Green waste collection

Your garden waste is collected, free of charge, the working day after your refuse and recycling collection day from the beginning of April to the end of October.

All green waste collected is composted locally.

April to October collection:

Please leave your garden waste in untied sacks which are no bigger than refuse sacks, at the boundary of your property, by 7am on your collection day.

November to March collection:

Book a collection by calling the Customer Contact Centre on 0208 554 5000 or by filling in the online booking form.

Sunday garden waste collection:

Three local collection points run by Redbridge Council operate between May and October. Residents can take their green garden waste, free of charge, between 9 am and 3 pm on Sundays, to the following locations:

  •     Fullwell Cross Car Park, Craven Gardens, Barkingside
  •   Wanstead Leisure Centre, Redbridge Lane West, Wanstead
  •   Cricklefield Sports Ground Car Park, High Road, Ilford

Please do not take waste here at any other time.


You can also take your garden waste to your local Reuse and Recycling Centre free of charge throughout the year.

Redbridge council are out of stock, but will be ordering more for Spring 2012. Contact them closer to the time here to get yours.

Did you know

You no longer have to book a green waste collection as your green waste is collected the day after your waste and recycling are collected.
