Flats collection

It is easy and convenient for residents in Newham who live in flats to recycle using orange bags. You simply tie your orange bag and put your orange recycling bags out wherever you leave your rubbish – this might be in a communal bin, down the rubbish chute, or at the boundary of your property.

Remember, your orange recycling bags are stored and/or collected together with your rubbish bags but all the items from your orange bags are separated and recycled.

If you live in a flat with communal bins

Newham Council will provide you with regular sized orange bags for your recycling. Please tie your orange bags and then you can put these straight intothe communal bins and they are separated out from the rubbish bags at a later stage.

You should receive new deliveries of recycling bags in March, June, September and December.

If you live in a medium to high-rise flat with rubbish chutes

Newham Council will provide you with small, shopping-bag sized orange bags for your recycling. You will receive 26 bags every 13 weeks. These bags can be put down the chutes along with your rubbish bags, and the orange bags are separated out for recycling at a later stage. Please remember to tie your bags and don’t overfill the bags as you could block the chute.

Put these things only in your orange recycling bags:
