House collection

Havering Council provides orange recycling sacks to every household to help you recycle. A roll of 16 sacks is delivered every 13 weeks, and you can pick up extra sacks from libraries, the Town Hall, Mercury House and Public Advice and Service Centres in Collier Row, Romford and Upminster.

Havering Council collect your recycling every week,on the same day they collect your rubbish. Your orange recycling sacks and black refuse sacks are collected in the same vehicle and at the sorting facility the orange sacks are separated out, and they are recycled.

It is important that your recycling is put in orange sacks and that the sacks are securely tied ready for collection. Remember you can also recycle thick, corrugated cardboard by placing it next to your orange sacks; please tie the cardboard together if there is more than one piece.

Please leave your orange sacks on the boundary of your property, nearest the road, by 7am on your collection day.

Here's what you can recycle in your orange recycling sack:

  • Newspapers, magazines, catalogues, directories, including Yellow Pages, white paper, shredded paper, junk mail, thin card e.g. cereal packets

Food tins & drink cans
  • Clean and empty please.
