Flats collection

Bring bank bins are in place for 2,500 flats in the borough. Residents will recieve two reusable orange bags to carry their recycling and empty it into these bins, but any reusable bag can be used.

For flats without this new scheme, Barking and Dagenham council provide orange recycling bags which are delivered each quarter to help you recycle.

They collect your recycling every week on the same day as they collect your rubbish. To find out when this is, go to the council’s website. Please leave your recycling bags in the communal bins provided – not anywhere else on the property – by 7am on your collection day.

Here's what you can recycle in your orange bag or bins:

Mixed paper & card
  • Newspapers and magazines
  • White and coloured paper
  • Catalogues and directories, including Yellow Pages
  • Leaflets, envelopes, junk mail
  • Thin card e.g. cereal boxes

Food tins & drink cans
  • Please rinse and make sure they are empty

Plastic bottles
  • Drinks bottles
  • Detergent bottles
  • Bleach bottles
  • Please wash, squash and take the lids off
