Bulky waste collection
Large items, such as items of furniture or fridges, can be collected using the council's Bulky Collection Service. You can contact Barking and Dagenham Direct on 020 8215 3000 (Monday to Friday, 8am - 6pm) or you can visit the One Stop Shop in the Barking Learning Centre.
Don't forget you can also take your household rubbish or items to your local
reuse and recycling centre.
Standard Service
You can have up to
4 small items collected
free of charge using the Standard Service.
Any additional small items are charged at £2 per item.
If you have opted for the standard service an appointment for collection will be arranged for you when you contact Barking and Dagenham Direct, this will usually be about
5 weeks.
Priority Service
Using the Priority Service, you will pay a
minimum charge of £12.50 of which you can have
4 small items or
1 large item collected.
Any additional small items are charged at £2.50 per item, any additional large items are charged at £10 per item and any additional extra large items are charged at £20 per item.
If you have booked for the priority service please leave the items out for collection on your property and we will collect these within
3 days.
Please note: Items should be available for collection by 6.30am. If you live in a house, items should be left in your front garden. If you live in a flat you should leave the items close to - but not obstructing - your Refuse Collection Point.
Items that will not be collected:
* Gas bottles
* Car/Motorbike parts
* Asbestos
* Fluid containers, for example drums
* Paint tins
Items that will be chargeable:
* Sheds
* Greenhouses
* Rubble
* Fence panels
* Concrete posts
* Garage doors/window frames
* Garden waste/trees
* Wire fencing
* Large fire surrounds
* Doors
