Lesson ideas

What’s in our bin? (KS2) Investigate what the class throws away in a day.  Pupils identify and weigh the different materials found in their class bin and come up with ideas about how they can reduce the amount of waste.

How wasteful was my lunch? (KS2) Pupils examine the rubbish they create from their packed lunches and identify alternatives to non-reusable and non-recyclable packaging.

Take Action, Be a Champion! (KS2) Challenge your class to take MuRFy’s ‘Are you a 3R Champion?’ Quiz.  Pupils learn how waste is everyone’s responsibility and how they can reduce, reuse and recycle.  They also have the opportunity to make 3R pledges.  A good activity to do before or after a visit to MuRFy’s World.
