Pupils' Work in Newham
Calverton Primary School
Calverton Primary School organised a poster design competition in school as part of an anti litter campaign in their local community. Our Education Officer Julia Roebuck visited the school to select and award the winners.

The three winners from Key Stage 1 are pictured, left.
The other competition entries will be used in a campaign by the children around the local community to raise awareness of the problems with litter in the environment surrounding the school.
The children from Calverton Primary School have also taken photographs of litter in various locations within the neighbourhood to evidence the real need for the campaign. These images will be used, along with slogans from the winning poster entries on postcards such as ‘Let’s Stop – Don’t Drop!’ and ‘Tidy up my World’, on postcards that will be distributed to those living near the school in order to raise awareness of the problems associated with littering.
As well as reducing the volume of rubbish that is thrown on the ground around the school, Calverton Primary are also working to divert waste away from landfill through a new recycling initiative. Good work Calverton!
Rap along with William Davies Primary School!
Clean School Rap
We’re a hip hop school and we love to keep it clean.
We pick up all the rubbish and we put it in the bin.
We rap with the mops and we rap with the broom
We rap to everything including our room.
We rap to the drawers and we rap to the floors
We clean up in the hall and we clean up in the mall.
We’re a hip hop team and we don’t waste paper
We put it for recycling – it gets used later.
We can reuse jars to reduce our waste
We can use an orange bag and save our place!
