From Tip to Ship
This is Start Imagining's fantastic competition. Inspired by the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Pageant on Sunday 3 June, groups of between 2 and 6 children are invited to make a model of a boat or a ship using reclaimed materials - and it doesn't need to float!
Pots Make Pounds!
With Pots Make Pounds you can exchange Petits Filous pot lids for vouchers that can be used to make savings off items purchased from the Hope Education Early Years and Pre-school catalogues; from
day to day supplies like paint, pencils and stickers, to those bigger items like outdoor play equipment or furniture.
'Pots Make Pounds' is open to all establishments whose pupil roll includes children who are aged 8 or under, registered with OFSTED or other UK national educational inspectorates. Visit their website for more details.
The Green School Revolution
This is a new initiative from The Co-operative and they have a competition for you to show how Green Schools Revolution has made a difference in YOUR school. The website includes resources, examples of Green School Revolution activities, games, news and events updates and the competition. By registering your school on the website you gain access to further information and the opportunity to visit many exciting and interesting co-operative sites around the UK including their farms and Wind Farm.
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment – DHL Schools Competition
With growing concerns about the volume of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) going to landfill, and the introduction of new local WEEE recycling services, DHL and Waste Watch are launching a competition to find the school that best communicates the key messages of
• Recognising the benefits and enjoyment that electrical and electronic products bring to our lives
• Raising awareness of the importance of responsibly recycling waste electrical and electronic products
• Promoting local WEEE recycling services
• Encouraging the local community to take action to properly dispose of their WEEE
Your task
To develop a creative and effective public awareness campaign that can spread the WEEE recycling message to your community. You can submit a poster, leaflet, video or podcast. The competition is open to all primary schools in DHL Envirosolutions service areas. There will be regional award winners, one in each of the DHL Envirosolutions service areas, and a national prize for the best campaign.
Eligibility
All primary schools in the DHL Envirosolutions service areas are eligible to enter the competition. Entries should be submitted as group or class entries. Each school may submit up to
two entries. DHL and Waste Watch reserve the right to publish the names of schools who submit an entry, as well as prize-winning schools.
How to enter
Entries must be submitted in hard copy if possible. Audio and video entries should be submitted on a CD-Rom or DVD.
We will return all entries, apart from the winning entries.

• Name and address of school
• Contact person, e-mail details and daytime telephone number
• The number and ages of pupils that took part

Deadline for submissions
Submissions will be accepted from 1 September 2011 through 14 June 2012.
Prizes and recognition
Winning schools will be announced on 6 July 2012. Each participating school will receive a certificate of recognition. The best entries will be showcased on the Waste Watch website.
• The best entry from each DHL Envirosolutions service area will receive a Flip® digital video recorder.
• One overall winner will receive a visualiser.
Judging criteria
The entries will be decided by a panel of judges from DHL Envirosolutions and Waste Watch. Entries will be judged on:
Message: This includes how well entries communicate the benefits and enjoyment that electrical and electronic products bring to our lives; the importance of responsibly recycling waste electrical and electronic products; and the location of local WEEE recycling services and how to use the services.
Creativity: This includes originality of thought or approach, and the engaging tools and techniques used to communicate the messages.
Learning: This includes the learning for sustainability that has occurred amongst the pupils.
Community: This includes the approach the project used to promote WEEE recycling in the wider school community.
