What will you do this Climate Week?
21 March
Climate Week (21 - 27 March) is a supercharged national event that will shine a spotlight on positive steps already being taken across Britain to tackle climate change.
It is about inspiring action and is supported by some big names, including Former US Vice President Al Gore, Prime Minister David Cameron, David Beckham and Sir Paul McCartney.
Thousands of businesses, charities, schools, councils and others will run events during Climate Week 2011. See below for what’s happening near you and find out how you can get more involved on the official

The Big Pedal
7 - 25 March
Join the free, UK-wide cycle-to-school competition! You could win a Land Rover bike, a stunt display day and more. Race your friends, improve your fitness, and help the environment. To take part, register at

Eco Tour of the UK - 10 schools in the borough will be provided with a map with eco-friendly hot spots, they will be required to sustainably travel to school to earn fooprints to move around the map. The school that gets the furthest will win a bike day.
Trash to Treasure: Can you turn a pile of rubbish into something new? - The best entries from a Primary School, Secondary School and Special School win a £50 HMV gift card! Enter on your own, with your friends or with your class.

Trash to Treasure Exhibition
Thursday 24 March, 12pm to 3pm
Kenneth More Theatre, Ilford
View all the Trash to Treasure competition entries from Redbridge schools on display at the Kenneth More Theatre. Winners and runner-ups will be presented with their awards at 2pm.
Give or Take event in association with Transition Wanstead
Saturday 26 March, 12pm to 3pm
United Reformed Church, Wanstead
Give or take household items such as books, kitchenware, toys, bikes, bric-a-brac, tools, clothes, plants, furniture and small electrical items. Kids craft workshop, Dr Bikes, Paint Reuse and Film showing. In Partnership with Redbridge Council.
