It's Recycle Week!
15 June
With Recycle Week 2011 coming up, take a pledge to do a little bit more to recycle ‘at home and away.’
Recycle Week runs from 20 – 26 June, with the theme of
‘Home and Away’ – that means we are encouraging you to recycle more both at home and while you’re out and about.
From the old receipts in your bag to that bottle of juice you buy on a day out, there are lots of things we may forget or not think it’s worth it to recycle, but if we all did a little bit more, it would add up to make a big difference.
Here are a few other ways you can do more this Recycle Week:
- ‘Recycle’ your
food – turn your leftovers and odd items into exciting new dishes, visit
www.lovefoodhatewaste.com for lots of recipes and tips
- Recycle your
old batteries – supermarkets and shops that sell batteries will have battery recycling bins, why not make use of them when you next go shopping?
- Take your
electrical items to your local Reuse and Recycling Centre – don’t stockpile your old hairdryers and TVs, take them to be recycled on your next trip to the ‘tip’!
- Get involved with a ‘
Big Tidy Up’ – this year, Keep Britain Tidy are encouraging you to organise or attend a tidy up of your local area, where the cans and plastic bottles collected will be recycled. Find out more at
