Why recycle?
Recycling is good for the environment and saves waste. It’s time for us all to recycle more!
Recycling means that materials which would otherwise be thrown away can be made into useful products again and again.
Recycling is good for the environment as we save raw materials, and reduce the need for unnecessary quarrying, mining, logging, manufacturing and transportation, which damage the environment.
It also means we create less waste, which leads to a reduction in the greenhouse gases which contribute to global warming.
How do things get recycled?
Shanks East London provides facilities to increase recycling, and to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.
Their two
Biological Material Recovery Facilities (or Bio-MRFs) enable useful resources to be extracted from waste and Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) to be produced from household waste, meaning a reduction in the amount sent to landfill by up to
80%. Find out how it works

Shanks also manage three
Materials Recycling Facilities (or MRFs) which process recycling, by separating them into different materials. They are then sent off to be recycled into new products.
